When Mahatma Gandhi said "In a gentle way, you can shake the world", he definitely had Onyeka in mind!
In the overwhelming air of Christmas, it is so easy to get very absorbed in the celebration/festivity and forget to spread little acts of love and kindness to others. This is not the case with our super girl - Onyeka Ononye; A young Nigerian girl resident in Maryville, Tennessee (U.S.A). She has decided to actively do something to make the lives of girls better this Christmas.
According to her inspiring Facebook post;
"I recently came across BolaKrafts on IG and loved her idea of making arm knitted scarves and donating proceeds to a charity. So, in light of Christmas and my upcoming birthday, I'm going to be making scarves and beanies and donating 50% of the proceeds to my charity of choice MEMUNATU, an NGO that aims at "Empowering Teenage Girls in West Africa Through A Classroom Magazine." Scarves/Cowls will be $30 and Hats will be $20."
As a student, Onyeka was a peer mentor at Maryville College. She currently serves as a Lab Assistant in the College's Natural Science Division.
Girl Pride Circle is very proud of you Onyeka, and we hope that this thoughtful action of yours will encourage other African girls to rise up, create positive impact and effect change in their various societies.
